But really this was the best vegetable dish I have ever eaten. Fresh and perfectly done. And with a view across vineyards, sheep grazing, at the end of the Bellarine peninsula southwest of Melbourne. 85 and sunny. Salad, vegetables, amazing cheese plate with local honey and jams. What else could we ask for?
Interesting eclectic here. A beautiful presentation of color and texture yet the flatware doesn't match and the table is rather rustic. That's 'stralia.
ReplyDeletewhat were the ingredients? looks like green beans, broccoli, and a few other things I can't quite ID. Cooked? Raw? Olive oil? Give it up bad boy
ReplyDeleteCrow - a discerning eye you have. We were at a place called the Bellarine Estate (having been shut out of Jack Rabbit Winery lunch due to crowds on a beautiful weekend and idiots not bothering to reserve a table even though this was the intended destination!) Anyway, we ate across the road at a this winery (AND brewery I might add) and had nearly the same view plus semi-Americans serving (who love Americans and not just Canadians) so it was very very nice. Even here, as the Australia PM was in the US the coverage was all about "are we sucking up too much to the US?". And when Australians try to compliment us, they say . . . Oh, your accents are so soft you almost sound Canadian (parenthetically saying they are sorry we are not). But here, they set up tables for us out in front of the vineyard under some great umbrellas as the vineyard dining was booked with a wedding. But we were able to look across the bay, across the vineyards, etc. and had great food
ReplyDeleteThe combo was broccoli rabe, carrot shavings, green beans, fennel. They must have steamed them individually then combined with an olive oil/garlic/tarragon mixture later. Everything was done perfectly.
ReplyDeleteCan you tell which of us is posting what????
