Champagne Plane Johnny

Let the travel begin!!!

So we're off. Technically back for two weeks in December but this really marks the beginning of almost four months on the road. Sitting in the Red Carpet Club at Dulles enjoying a fine beer and pondering the two weeks ahead in Argentina. We've been so busy that except for our hotels and one in country flight I have NO idea what we're going to do there. That's where the fun is. Too much planning is no good. So we'll keep you posted and include some pics. Perhaps you have suggestions? Now there's a great idea. How about you tell us somewhere to go and we'll check it out and post some pics. Love that. You asked for it! Ok, back to my "free" draft beer. Still can't figure how we got from free to $17.50. Hmmmmmm.....maybe we should keep track of all the "free" stuff we get on this trip. So research, research, research. what do you want to see in Argentina??

18th at Pebble Beach

Beautiful and a great lunch too. Here's a tip though - don't have a bottle of champagne in the middle of your 35 mile bike ride.

Great time in Chicago

A beautiful day for a walk on the lake and a great weekend. Lots of cooking and of course numerous cocktails. Chicago is an easy and quick commute from DC. Is our room ready buddy?

John and our butler George

What a great guy. Took fantastic care of us at the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. Drew us a bath without asking so it was ready when we came back cold and tired from our game drive. Got us drinks before dinner, then served us our dinner. He could not have been better to us. Always pleasant, smiling and happy, he was a huge plus for our whole safari experience.

Turks and Caicos May 2010

Stunning beaches and water. This isn't the best example of the seaside, but it was the best smooch!

Frank Gehry's hotel at the Marques de Riscal vineyards

Fantastic hotel in Elciega in La Rioja, northern Spain. This is truly an amazing site as you enter this old hill town, round a corner, and see this incredible creation sitting on the hill like a big Christmas present wrapped in multicolored bows. Stylin' rooms - love the Nespresso machine - great restaurant and wine. As for service, they would bring us warm milk every morning for our coffee. What more can I say.

Great surprise in our room

We got this great room at the Room Mate Alicia in Madrid for pretty cheap only to find that it included this fantastic outdoor space on the roof overlooking the plaza. Sometimes you get lucky.
