Australia has one of the greatest populations of spiders, snakes etc. in the world. Found these all in about 10 minutes in one small area. The snake is a carpet python.
I'm guessing 'CJ' did not go snake hunting. When we lived in Australia the kids would bring the 'Red-Back' spiders to school in a jar...sort of a, 'Show-and-Tell'. Outhouses were still in use out in the country-side where I taught. A frequent hang-out for the Red-Back. "Excuse me while I sit on you."
