  1. I can't tell what the book is or what is in the plate. Any descriptions?

  2. Anago, salt water eel. Sitting on a large bowl of rice. That's all the restaurant does (they are Michelin starred). They say one of the reasons it's so easy to get great food in Japan is because most places specialize in one thing (sushi, tonkatsu, ramen, etc) and this place only does anago. It' a good thing too because it made ordering very easy. You can only get a bowl of rice with anago on top. They only had 5 tables - 4 on the mats, and one western style. We sat on the floor although it's not John's favorite. For some reason when posting from my iphone which is normally what I do, this blogger site spontaneously loses photos and often whole paragraphs of text.
