Check the wiring

This is pretty much the state of the local electric grid throughout India. That is to say where there is electricity at all. These pictures were taken in Delhi but it's what we saw in every city. It is unbelievable and looks incredibly dangerous. It is routine for the guides to point this out. We regularly hear "See the wires". I also asked our guide yesterday about water. I was really asking about the fountains at a site we were visiting but he took it to mean water service in general in the city. He seemed a highly educated and fairly prosperous type - by which I mean to say that he is not living in a slum. I have no idea where he lives in Delhi but he told us that he gets ONE HOUR of water per day. This is not some sort of emergency. This is the normal state of affairs. And this is in the capital of India!

  1. Holy Toledo! Are you packin' - a fire extinguisher, that is?

Who knows? Maybe ours looks like that but we hide it better behind walls?

The water situation is hard to believe. We are so fortunate - and just by an accident of fate.
