Off to Bangkok

We leave at noon today for Bangkok. This begins a series of shorter flights until we go to Australia, so it's only 4 hours. Betty is right on the money about hotels in India. I'm very glad we did it the way we did but it will be a pleasure to get into some stylin' hotels at a fraction of the price. India is a fascinating place but can be an intense experience and these hotels we are at do give you some needed respite and sanity. Our next stop will be at more of a serviced apartment, meaning in a hotel type building but with the comforts of home, i.e., full kitchen, laundry etc. Plus we leave the travel company behind. No more planned excursions every day and no more guides. Now we strike out more on our own which is really the way we prefer to travel. It's been fairly cold so far with India experiencing one of it's coldest winters in years, although the last several days have been beautiful. You can see by what we're wearing that it's been pretty chilly. But Thailand will be around 90. So off we go, headed southeast across the Bay of Bengal and into southeast Asia. I'm ready for some shorts so bring it on.
