Another Taipei Classic

Hot Star Large Chicken. It's about 1/2 a chicken, flattened-breaded-deep fried-drained then sprinkled with a magic spice blend. Bones are still in so you kind of have to gnaw around them. Another place with the huge lines at the night market: the good food is easy to find. When you get in line, they hand you a small plastic bag. You work your way through to the chicken serving area, they ask if you want spicy or no (we say yes) then they wrap it in a waxed paper pouch, shove it in your plastic bag, then you're on your way to find someone selling beer a few stalls down.

Another popular option with the kids is catching your own shrimp. Once you have enough for the skewer, they throw them right on the charcoal grill at the stand. We would have tried, but the kids monopolized all the seats :)

  1. At first glance, I thought his was one of those pedi places where the fish eat the skin off your feet. Just lost appetite.
