Flower Market, Taipei

About a half mile of markets under the train trestles in Taipei. Part flowers, part jade and jewelry, part art. Taipei is considered and so far undiscovered but great city and we agree. Great markets, restaurants, safe, clean. First impression - you feel like you're in NYC, but it's just different. Southeast Asia is great but it can be dirty, smelly, super crowded with dangerous traffic. People are nice and we love the food. But come to Taiwan and much of the hard stuff is gone. Amazing amount of English spoken here. Wide sidewalks and dedicated bike lanes. Not a very green (though we are staying near Da'an park which is like Taipei Central Park.). There are a million little side streets with teeny restaurants and shops and you could wander around for days just checking it all out. The people are very friendly and helpful.
