Wonderful Elephant Experience

Amazing experience at this elephant rescue camp in northern Thailand near the border with Burma. These elephants are rescued from places like circuses or from people who used them for shows as babies but no longer want them. Many were also born here - 17 in the last 18 years. Only about 8 people are allowed in per day. One person paired with one elephant and the elephant's mahout. You feed your elephant, wash it in the river, the works. You do ride but only "mahout" style, meaning no strapped on chair - bareback controlling the elephant with voice commands, taps and nudges. Challenging. I got the mother and her baby as a bonus. Elizabeth got a protective "aunt".

    1. You are so right! And of all the places, you can definitely get temple-d out in Chiang Mai! There is at least one in sight at all times!
